Prahlad Rao has worn the hats of an engineer, an aptitude developer, an entrepreneur, and that of a people profiler! He keeps the brims up on each hat, so that he doesn’t miss out on any new hats that come his way. “After all, life is full of all kinds, shapes, sizes, and styles of hats,” says Prahlad.
Prahlad took a break from his engineering career to study management at IIM, Bangalore. For the next 23 years, he’s indulged in conceptualising, starting, and growing business ideas: Career Plan, a training organisation for aptitude exams such as CAT, GRE, and GMAT; and coolden.com and TVA Infotech with Gautam Sinha.
While coolden.com, a 3-D community website for children, succumbed to the dotcom crash, TVA Infotech grew to become one of India’s largest IT recruitment companies. In March 2008, TVA was acquired by Allegis Group Inc, the largest staffing company in USA.
In 1998, Prahlad brought to India Thomas International’s profiling practices. Today, he is the Director of Thomas Assessments Pvt Ltd and is one of the two principal consultants for the practice across India and SAARC. Prahlad consults with a wide cross-section of companies such as Toyota Kirloskar, Tyco Electronics, Daimler, and the GMR group.
A guest speaker at IIM, Bangalore, and a guru on Aol., Prahlad loves travelling, reading (anything from history to satire), or teeing off on the greens.
